My Dad had me catching walleyes when I was nine years old, they still intrigue me today. Probably no fish that I chase is as diverse in its range and habits as "old marble eye". I have caught walleyes in as little as 16 inches of water or as deep as 40 feet. Sometimes speed is the key, other times, slow is the only way to go. River fish are different than lake fish. And believe it or not, Canadian fish are different than those here in the States. It's no wonder that I get many calls each year from folks who are struggling to boat fish and want to get out on the water. Most of the walleye waters that I fish will produce fish in that 6#, 7#, and 8# range, nice walleyes in anybody's book. For those that want fish for the trip home, I have several waters that produce nice eating size fish as well. My methods for boating eyes can change day to day, they can change on different pieces of water, and they certainly change as the seasons change. Let me take some of the mystery out of boating these fish in Northwestern Wisconsin. Whether you are looking for the biggest walleye you have ever caught or just looking to boat a few "eaters", I have numerous methods and waters to get the job done.
